Abstract:

The interest in using graphics processing units (GPUs) to accelerate applications has increased in the last decade. However, there are still many burdens placed upon programmers when using the existing heterogeneous programming models, such as CUDA or OpenCL. In this talk, I will first give a quick introduction to GPU programming, and then describe a few problems that a GPU programmers might encountered and how we can help programmers solve the problems using compiler and runtime techniques. Four topics, including device abstraction, automatic workload distribution, automatic kernel fusion, and enabling preemptive execution, will be coved in this talk.
